Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Not Angry, for Once Seems that, even with all the addons and everything to the original Lightbox, and a bunch of other versions, Lightbox simply cannot run flash. So Lightbox fails. I will have to publish flash content via the normal way. I know that Newgrounds got it to work, but I think they custom coded that, and I don't have enough Javascript experience to fill in the holes. Later on, azt some point, we will try the lightbox again. Until that point in time, the lightbox feature will be for images only. Still good and all, just that none of the Actionscript works, and that you can't display flashes in a lightbox over 12/fps, and all my flashes are either 24/fps or 25/fps.
Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Not Angry, for Once New Millennium has finally reopened. All the appropreate files have been uploaded, and although not a lot of the pages are online, (mostly) all of the content that was waiting for this release has been, well... released. However, the forums are still being hosted on a third-party free server. Still require a PHP/MySQL enabled server that can handle pretty major bandwidth. I and Gary have been contacting others to see if they have any space on their server, but it seems that the Message Boards might have to stay with the current free forums provider. Unfortunate, really, but at least it's something.
The updates are the following: - Media page - Services page - Media uploads (Flash, etc) - Most of the recent content added - All links in sidebar fixed - Banner image edited
Finally, after a year, we are back.
Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Annoyed Going through what I have for the December update, I realized that, because December was such a long wait for a large amount of people, I might as well release some content, pre-emptive. Maybe some rough drafts or something. As soon as I get the rest of the website done. The reason why I didn't do so before was because of my explicit fear of having to copy and paste code on all the different pages (one of the reasons why we converted to the lightbox feature was so that we would not have to update all the pages for even a minor change, bug or feature). Yet, I will face it now. There will be no search bar, or really any other addition towards the entire site that cannot be edited by modifying a graphic. Therefore, I will have the entire website at least linking to all the pages along with one update - minimum - by the end of the Thanksgiving weekend. Heck, maybe i'll egen get festive, dress up the website in orange.
Then again, that would actually require work. Damn.
Brief rant on Copyright - November 13, 2007 Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Pissed Off Oookay. I really love when attention is drawn to my work. Especially when that gains publicity to my website. However, it seems that some of you apparent neanderthals have no idea of modern copyright law, publication laws, of stuff like that. People - I submit my work to a site. Emphasis on the "a". Sometimes, I submit my work to two. Whenever I refrence that website, I always provide an HTML link. A Link, in text form, that has the address to that website. You should too. Better to link it here, but hey, whatever floats your boat.
Unless, whatever floats your boat, sinks mine.
Then we have conflict. You see, you cannot pretend I submitted it to your flash website, because I did not, in fact, submit it to your website, unless I have. Now, the two places I "publish" are here, UGOplayer (Now Animation Factory), and Newgrounds.
This means that those flashes stay there, that I have goiven consent for them to remain there. I did not, however, give consent for you to TAKE THAT WORK, and PUT IT ON YOUR OWN WEBSITE, to HOST IT ON YOUR WEBSITE, to make it seem that I actually GIVE A DAMN about your website. Because trust me, 90% of the time, I do not. I do not want my work paraded around your "Animation Website", even if you refrence me as the author, provide a link to this website, if you wish to do so, PROVIDE A DIRECT TEXT LINK, do NOT host your flash on your page, because, even if you cite, it is ILLEGAL. I could call a lawyer and sue your ass.
Don't do it - or you ruin it for everyone, and I start to not make flashes anymore, or require you to use a password and have your own, "registered distro", which would trully be homosexual in a negative way.
G3A3 - October 12, 2007 Gary Blizzard - Flash Drawing First thing I made in Flash CS3. It's not my best, but I really made this just to try out the new Flash and get used to it. It only took like 15 minutes LoL, my good s*it takes hours. Please Note: This image is not hosted on-site. Please be aware that clicking on the following link will lead to an external site, and that New Millennium is not responsible for any damage your computer may get from that website. F*ck! - November 12, 2007 Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Nuclear Dreamweaver CS3 is perhaps both the most beautiful and most horrid upgrade yet. No kidding. Well, I guess for first-time users, Dreamweaver's new functions make perfect sense. However, to one who has been using Dreamweaver 8 for an incredibly long time, the upgrade to CS3, although overall great, still provides some... comfort issues For example, whenever you copied an id tag in D8, it stayed the same. However, do that in CS3, and it adds a number value, thus thuroughly making it really frustrating to go back every single time and edit the id tag in code view. They don't even have an alternative to editing the id tag in Design view - I thought that would have been an obvious feature to add in. Don't get me wrong, Dreamweaver CS3 is much better than v8. It's just, not all what I was expecting, and almost alien.
Maybe that's just the recent switch to... Oh, I don't know, a Macintosh. You have no idea how long I have been waiting to say that. Or, well, type that. Whatever.
Some Updates - October 12, 2007 Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Phi-like I am feeling suprisingly German. Not that I am German, or speak enough german to pass as even a first or second grade German child, and certainly no offense to German culture, but I have a strange feeling of wanting to shove my way onto a bus, cut in front of someone at the register in the local grocery store, and my memory seemse effected in a way that I have no recollection if I have or how to line up in a line. If I was above 21, I would also post about alcoholic beverages, pints, and litre bottles, Or even a gallon (I have no idea if I spelled that right, forgive me, I'm Canadian). Do they even sell gallon-bottles? I don't think so, but if there was any place where they sold them, it would be in Germany.
Or in South Korea. Honestly, if you have seen a Korean drama or television programme, they never drink any form of light beer, ever. Beer in a can is nonexistent in Korean media (or so it seems). They are always drinking some kind of drink that should be taken in shot glasses, but, since they're Korean, they just chug the bottle.
Chug, chug. Anyway, there is just one minor update, and that is I put a glow effect on the banner image... thing. Not exactly a banner, but whatever. Also, I fell asleep at five o clock, and woke up at 9:00 PM, and now I am staying up late trying to feel the least bit sleepy. Bah.
Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Just Plain Pissed The forums are here. Well, not "here", here, as I am currently undergoing a regorous trial in getting past the bugs of multiple browsers and HTML's current lack of ability to do anything beyond wiping your bottom with .gifs. Yes, it is a frame, and yes, I have been corrupted into that mindset of thinking, that putting a forums of a different coloration inside a site with perhaps the opposite coloration will actually look good. Rest in peace, I still have enough common sense to decipher that that is not true. This is temporary until Gary can get his server back, so I have to do with the free hosting services, and although I could have gone through the trouble of customizing the CSS and images in iPB or Invisionfree, I chose the option, "I don't like random google ads", and thus you will have to tolerate this until I have a more decent way of communications via message board.
Also, as a reminder, all buttons except the Forum button are not working. They don't go anywhere. They are just there so I don't have to configure them later. Remember, the "official" projected date of re-release of New Millennium is December 1st, 2007, although the new forums will not likely come until 2008. Sorry for any inconvieniences, suck it up and move on.
Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Gleedom Suprise, suprise. Anyone suprised to read this? I guess not, considering that all the major groups that visited this site all know about the site development so far... oh well. Maybe you will be suprised at the website's layout. Long have I stuck to websites that looked more corporate than an individual mutlimedia site. Thus, I have made the website into more of a developer-kind of style. Of course, most developers have no sense of design whatsoever, so most of their sites are full of non-linearized gradient bevels, squares and circles with radial gradients, and... well, it's the bevels that get to me the most. What kind of person would use bevels in a website? The only good bevel is an indescrete bevel that makes the site look good on the microscopic level, in which I have used several times, then found that making a bevelized-look as a linear gradient (like the Media Center XP startbar) is better than a bevel, although it looks kind of similar.
Well, throughout the big chasm of a "break", I actually managed to create not just one, but around ten new New Millennium websites. (Yes... I was bored). Along with that are new graphical styles, +1 Actionscript Coder, +2 Affliation, and +3 Projects.
More information coming soon, hold on to your cats!
Hekatommyriagon/Eclipse - Mood: Kinda Annoyed Considering that the total user count on this website is currently zero, due to the fact that it being offline (thus constituting this as filler text), no one will probably pay attention to this very much, until, of course, after it is online. I hope. However, to the creamy centre of the doughnut we go, or, as the Americans here seem to say it, "Get on with it!" Well, we have our getting-ons and going-offs, and considering that we have done the latter and not the former for the past half a year or so, I will, in fact, (for the first time ever), "Get on with it". So, to summarize? New website. Yes, I know, there has been thousands of updates again and again, none of them satisfying my webmastery, (kinda like the temptation to eat another Krispy Kreme, even after you ate, like, five), but this one is special. Oh yes.
This one is done in a style that doesn't look like it comes from some kind of oil-company corporation (or some knock-off of Adobe. Speaking of Adobe, they had a major site redesign... I'm still deciding whether or not that's a good thing, and whether or not that will cause people with large sticks to come running and pelt me down with wooden stakes, like the time I said I loved the new Adobe logos...). This one (to me, anyway), looks like an honest-to-Pascal, Einstein-forsaken Hekaton-danged... whatever you may call it.
There are also staff profile pictures. Gotta love those. |
